Harms OE Carburetor Restorations
Nothing sets off a brand new engine restoration like a beautifully restored carburetor sitting on top. At Harms your carburetor will be completely restored to the finest detail.Each is completely dissasembled, correctly re-plated, rebuilt, and then test run and tuned on a running mule engine prior to shipment. We photo document every single restoration we perform so that all of your carburetors original plating and assembly details are recorded prior to disassembly. This insures an accurate reference for proper plating and other fine details as your carburetor goes back together. If your Carburetor is not good for reference due to prior rebuilds or overall poor condition we can use our vast photo archives of other similar carburetors for proper detailing cues. All of our work is warranted against leaks or other manufacturing defects for as long as you own them. Our prices do not vary with the condition of your carburetor unless it has damaged or missing componants beyond what is included in a carburetor rebuild kit. If replacement core parts are required we will contact you before continuing on your build.
Common steps involved in restoring your carburetor
- Upon receipt a full Inspection and photo session
- Complete Disassembly including well plugs and emulsion tubes for a complete cleaning
- Complete soak and cleaning in liquid cleaner
- Special proprietary carburetor body cleaning
- All components are checked for deterioration, pitting, or wear that might require core replacements
- Checking for flatness & resurfacing all mating surfaces (main body, metering blocks, pump covers, etc.) as required
- Any screw heads with screw driver damage are either replaced or dressed to look new again
- Throttle shaft bores are checked and bushed as required, we accept no leaks!
- All linkage components, screws, and springs receive a proper plating in the factory correct colors throughout
- Zinc carburetor bodies (Holleys, some Rochesters, etc.) receive a correct dichromate dip. We are VERY particular in getting the correct factory shade, no super dark generic gold here!
- Reassembly is done with only the finest available replacement parts
- After assembly each carburetor is tested and adjusted on a running mule engine, only quality fuel with fuel stabilizer is run so that your carburetor will be safe and sound against leaks or problems sitting unused for many years if needed.
